You’ve taken that first step and you should be commended for it.  You’ve decided that you want to better yourself as an athlete and started a training program.  Whatever type of program that may be, speed training, strength training, individual sport instruction, you are there to get better.

But you are entering more than just a training program.  You are entering into a partnership.  We are going to provide you the means to get you more athletic, faster, and stronger.  Your end of the deal is to perform whatever task we throw at you to the best of your ability.

We will give you 100% effort and you should be able to return that effort as well.

But, this isn’t a 50/50 partnership.  As coaches, we definitely hold the majority ownership of this partnership.

We value the athlete’s input.  We do need to know certain things.  Are you hurting?  Did this cause pain beyond normalcy?  How are you feeling today?

Ultimately, the athlete’s part of the partnership is probably limited to these following four items:

  • Show up on time ready to work.
  • Give us 100% effort at all times.
  • Communicate with us like an educated human being.
  • Don’t waste our time.

And that basically covers everything.

As the coach, our responsibilities are probably just as simplistic, but hopefully not so much more important, but more valuable to you.

If you abide by the above four items, then as coaches we are more than happy to go above and beyond the call of duty to get you to where you need to be as an athlete.

We will figure out the best strategy to get you accomplishing your goals.  We will spend hours going to seminars networking and doing research to find the most effective drills to get the results that you need.

Your input is obviously important and we welcome questions, but like any coach the buck stops here.  Ultimately, we will weigh all the facts and proceed down the best course of action we feel will benefit you the most.  Just because you don’t like to do an exercise doesn’t mean we won’t do it.

Once again, this is a partnership between coach and athlete.  You hold up your end of the bargain and we will bust our butts making sure we hold up our end.
