I thought I’d try something new and talk about some of the bigger events that happened this past week…in sports, not the world. The world is too depressing so let’s discuss something that is really important.
- As many of you know, I’m a Lakers fan and this week Kobe Bryant announced he was retiring. Immediately changing the media’s approach to writing about Kobe this year from “washed up” to “we’re going to miss you.” I’ve written a couple blog posts about Kobe, like the one I wrote about his workout routine. Kobe’s a phenomenal athlete. I’ve always loved his approach to the game and doing whatever it took to win a game. Even though, there were many times I thought he shot way too much. I was in Detroit last night watching him in-person for the last time.
- I’ve never seen a player like Steph Curry. Someone my height who has the handles he does and the shooting accuracy like nothing we’ve ever seen before. He gets the ball off so quick and he is just about unguardable. You just hope he is having an OFF night. He scored 28 in the third quarter the other night. I’ve watched the best NBA players since the early ‘80s and this kid is right up there and I think the best shooter of them all.
- Did you know the waterways being used for the Olympic Games in Rio next year are still unsafe to be in? They are polluted, disgusting, and it is a shame that there is a good chance these athletes are going to have to make a decision if they are going to have to risk their health for the chance to participate in the Olympics. The Olympic Committee is a sham anymore. How they go about picking these sites and making false promises of cleaning things up for the betterment of the city, let alone the games. Remember Beijing in 2008? How did Sochi get to host the games 2 years ago? Spirit of good competition my a$$.
- I agree with Ezekiel Elliott. Urban should have gotten him the ball a lot more against MSU, but for some reason he chose not to give him the rock and now they are stuck home this weekend watching their College playoff fate unfold on TV. What were you thinking Urban??
- I turned the Packers/Lions game off and they Packers were being blanked. I wake up to workout the next morning and I see they came back to win. When I saw the highlights it was on a Hail Mary pass??!! KNOCK IT DOWN!!!
- Anyone else want to punch Jimmy Kimmel in the face? “This New Year’s Eve will be so awesome…” YUCK!
That’s all I have for you this week. Go ahead and tell me what you think about those items in the comments box below. Or feel free to add a couple that I might have missed.
