People think my occupation is a speed coach. Or a strength coach. Or a personal trainer. Or the guy who gets my kid to be a better athlete. All these are technically correct. I am all those things.
Really, what I am is a salesman though. My job is selling sport enhancement training to consumers. The consumers are you.
Now I’m different than your typical salesman that you think of. An insurance salesman meets with you once, sells you some policy, and then you don’t meet with him/her again until renewal time or you actually need to use the policy.
I bought a new car a year and a half ago. I couldn’t give you the name of my salesman. He probably couldn’t pick me out of a lineup. I think he sent me a card at the holidays. It was very touching.
When someone purchases my program that is just the beginning of our relationship. At the absolute very least, you are going to get 2 emails from me a week where you get to learn something about sport training you might not have known. But, more importantly, you get to know me and what makes me tick just a little more. Hopefully, that makes you feel comfortable with your decision.
Even if all you do is purchase our online speed program, the Run Faster Method, you still get those two emails each week. We are starting a very rudimentary relationship. You did your due diligence, you liked my message, and you trusted me with helping your athlete to become better. You got it.
Now, if you actually met me and decided to do training at our facility, then our relationship will go even deeper. You don’t just zoom away from me with some secret formula in your hand that will get you stronger and faster and I never see you again.
Oh no!
It boils down to this. You’ve researched and thought our program from the initial observation might be a good option for your son or daughter. You’ve met us and allowed us to assess your athlete. You’ve listened to what we say, but more importantly you’ve asked us smart questions hoping to hear equally smart responses that will satisfy you.
Ultimately all that can be summed up like this. This isn’t some car. This isn’t some insurance policy. You are purchasing a program that will be handling one of your most prized possessions, your child.
Maybe you have aspirations for your child that might go beyond high school. But, most of you just want your child to have the best experience possible and realize that our program could be a tool to do that for you. You get it.
That is the beginning of our relationship with you to prove to you that you did make the right choice. I think that you are smart just to realize there are opportunities out there to help your child. And taking advantage of it will definitely benefit your child.
You were wise to take this step. Besides you and possibly your athlete’s coach, there will be no one, and I mean no one, that will care more about your child’s success then us.
So I just want to thank you for being a caring and thorough parent. You know that this is something that is important to you, so it is important to us as well. I hope that what comes out of our relationship is mutual respect and constant stories of how fun your games have become because of your new found skills. Once that happens then you understand why people truly play athletics. You got it.
