Lebron James is doing it again. He is re-writing history before our very eyes and making it look easy. The guy is smack dab in the middle of his prime. He is playing the best basketball he probably will ever play and we need to notice this. If you are a basketball fan, you need to watch this guy play every time he is on because chances are we aren’t going to see anyone like him for a long time.
What did Lebron do now that has got me all riled up?
In the last 6 games that Lebron has played in, he has gotten 30 or more points with a shooting percentage of 60 or more in each game. No one in NBA history has done that. Not Kareem, not Wilt, not MJ. No one. There were only two people who had done it for 5 games and now Lebron stands alone at the top.
Plus, in all of those games the Miami Heat have had victories. With Lebron leading the charge, the Heat are starting to find their groove. Once All-Star weekend ends, it will be a sprint to the finish and the way the East is shaping up, the Heat aren’t going to have too much trouble securing a number one seed.
Do you understand exactly how big of a deal this is?
Lebron James is shooting with such an efficiency it is incredible. He isn’t forcing anything. He’s taking what is given to him. At the same time he is getting his teammates involved and basically dominating the stat line. In his 6 game streak, he is also averaging over 6 rebounds and assists a game as well as 1.5 steals and a block a game.
That’s pretty incredible!
I watched him take apart my Los Angeles Lakers and he seemed to be all over the place. He’s so smooth and fast that it seemed he was anticipating what the Lakers were doing before they knew what they were going to do. The Lakers are a mess anyways, but he was just flying on defense. He snatched one errant pass and in one smooth motion took it down court for a dunk before the Lakers could even react.
He’s Karl Malone playing with John Stockton skills.
I was listening to ESPN talk about him and someone said he was a combo of Malone and Stockton. He’s an inch shorter than Malone, although he weighs the same and has less bodyfat. But, he has Stockton’s decision making ability and guard sense that makes him an unstoppable force. You better hope he is having an off night.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. We are watching not only the best basketball player on the planet, but possibly the best athlete on this planet. Luckily with today’s media we can see every highlight play he makes. But, don’t miss the opportunity to catch him live. His size and speed is freakish and should be marveled.
Hold off on the comparisons to Jordan for now. He is still right in the prime of his career. Let him finish writing his book before we even utter “is he better than Jordan?” Let’s just say that he is the best right now. HIs physical gifts…well there is no comparison. Let’s appreciate what he is doing and understand you might not ever see anything like him again.
